For Hand Papermaking's 2014 Year-end Broadside, Julie McLaughlin and Tom Balbo produced this striking 11x17 paperwork with four colorful couchings of pigmented cotton and kozo. Both eastern and western sheetforming techniques were employed as they worked in tandem at the Morgan Conservatory paper studios in Cleveland. The original text and imagery were printed on a Vandercook press. Julie’s exquisite woodblock depicts the mulberry growing in the Morgan paper gardens. Tom’s lovely text takes us beyond the perils of our modern world to the enchantment of craft and the shared experience of art. Tom and Julie were aided by Lauren Sammon, Steve Pittelkow, and Diana Bowman.
