NZ Performance Car #303 July-Aug 2023

Issue 303

No HEAT! We do love a good ol’ fashioned widebody machine, and in this upcoming issue we’ve got a 520kW JZX100 Chaser, owned by Fenix Radiators. The old 1JZ was thrown in the bin, and in its place is a Borgwarner-fed 2JZ-GTE that almost converted our 4G63-loving writer, Warren Sare. Following that widebody perfection, you’ll find a build that’s externally a heap less modified, with the FD body lines not needing such extreme modification to stand out. Pop the bonnet though, and the Vinny Fabrication RX-7 shop car is a pure work of art — weld porn in its purest form. Warren Sare and the Yokohama World Time Attack team give us an update on the upcoming builds we’re going to see at this year’s event. Shaun Constable gets his S14 road legal in New Zealand, and we check out the NZ Superlap Series final, held at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park. There’s a 400kW-plus Evo for the noisy lifter fans and a hill-climb WRX STI for the rod-bearing enthusiasts among us. Aaron Mai gives an insight into the life of the world’s youngest WRC champion, and Deven checks out Mad Mike’s latest creation. And, Cruise Mode, Weekend Warrior, and Street Legal all pack out the end of what is a jam-packed issue. Head down to your local servo, give your cashier the nod, before walking out with New Zealand’s best, high-performance car magazine. Here is the blurb!
