A 12" x 9" x 2" freestanding giraffe stature created with plated glass. Dimension is added to the sections of the giraffe’s body by cutting several pieces of glass in each area that are increasingly smaller in size. They are then plated to give a three-dimensional shape to the legs, shoulders, and neck. Clear rubber spacers help to hold the legs in a position that allows the piece to stand by itself. This project was constructed using the copper foil technique. This article was originally published on page 12 in the Spring 2012 issue of Glass Patterns Quarterly.
