Discover Concord Spring 2025 issue

Volume 7 - Issue 2

As we continue our nation’s celebration of the 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolution, we look at the contributions of Black and Indigenous Patriots during the Revolution and the ongoing struggle for freedom and equality. This is also the perfect moment to learn more about His Majesty’s Tenth Regiment of Foot, the American Contingent - one of America’s preeminent reenactor groups - founded in 1968 and headquartered in Lexington, MA. Step inside four of the earliest battles of the American Revolution, from the battles of Lexington and Concord through the Battle of Bunker Hill. The war would continue for years afterward, but these first battles set the stage and became a rallying cry for the Revolution. Finally, explore the impact of the Revolution on four children who lived through the events of April 19, 1775. Learn about the historic meeting of President Abraham Lincoln and Ralph Waldo Emerson. Delve into the world of Margaret Fuller, journalist, critic, and pioneering advocate for women's rights, best known for her influential book Woman in the Nineteenth Century. And join The Umbrella Arts Center as they honor Gregory Maguire, the acclaimed authors of Wicked and long-time Concord resident. And, of course, you’ll find Things To See & Do and Arts Around Town, filled with details of upcoming events you won’t want to miss.
